Mr. Conor Maynard, aged 32, has announced a new addition to his family, following his prior categorical denial of paternity in relation to the child of Ms. Charlotte Chilton.
On Father’s Day, Mr. Maynard shared a photograph on social media depicting himself and his partner, identified as Ms. Kitty, in an affectionate pose, accompanied by an announcement that they had adopted a Bernedoodle puppy, whom they have named Bernard.
The singer’s post served as both a personal update and a light-hearted revelation to his followers, clarifying that the “new addition” in question was a pet and not a child, implicitly distancing himself further from previous paternity allegations.
Mr. Conor Maynard and his partner, identified as Ms. Kitty, recently introduced a new addition to their household—a Bernedoodle puppy named Bernard. In a photograph shared on social media, Ms. Kitty is seen holding the dog while Mr. Maynard looks on affectionately. The post was captioned, “Welcome to the family little Bernard,” and was met with congratulatory remarks from fans, one of whom commented, “Awwh your first baby, so happy for you.”
This announcement follows public attention surrounding Mr. Maynard’s involvement in a paternity dispute. Last month, Mr. Maynard addressed the matter during a televised appearance on This Morning, hosted by Ms. Alison Hammond and Mr. Paddy McGuinness. The singer, aged 32, reiterated that a DNA test had been conducted and confirmed that he is not the biological father of the child in question.
The controversy originated after The Traitors 2024 contestant, Ms. Charlotte Chilton, also aged 32, publicly alleged that Mr. Maynard was the father of her unborn child, following a brief encounter. Despite Mr. Maynard’s assertion that DNA evidence excluded him as the father, Ms. Chilton has continued to maintain her position, claiming that he has refused to acknowledge the child.
On the day of Mr. Maynard’s interview, Ms. Chilton was photographed in Warwickshire with her daughter, reportedly appearing in public for the first time since the dispute became widely known. She rose to public prominence following her appearance on the BBC reality series The Traitors.
Mr. Maynard’s This Morning interview, which was also intended to promote his latest single, drew criticism and confusion from some viewers due to his vague commentary. While he did not explicitly restate the DNA findings, he cited the toll the past year had taken on his mental health, stating:
“Realistically, one of the main reasons [this is] the right time to speak about it is because, as you already said, the last year has been really difficult. Mental health has been something I’ve struggled with throughout my life. This recent year has been up there in terms of experience and battle with it.”
Mr. Conor Maynard, continuing his interview on This Morning, elaborated on the emotional and psychological impact of the recent paternity dispute and its resolution. He stated that he has been open with his fanbase about his ongoing struggles with mental health, particularly anxiety, noting that his newly released song reflects this personal battle in significant depth.
He explained:
“I’ve never shied away from that. My fans who follow me online — I’ve spoken about it before. Even today, I’ve released a brand new song; it goes deeply into my battle with anxiety. A lot of things that have happened contributed to why things have been difficult.”
When host Paddy McGuinness asked how he felt upon receiving the DNA test results, Mr. Maynard responded:
“I actually felt like I was going to have a massive panic attack the second I found out. That’s the difficult truth about mental health—when something traumatic happens to you, the moment it ends doesn’t instantly resolve the internal impact. You don’t just go, ‘Oh, I’m fine now. Great, I can move on.’”
He further described how his immediate circle responded:
“Initially, my friends were like, ‘Do you want to grab a drink? We’ll go do something, hang out near your house, we can just talk.’ But I stayed at home with my girlfriend. We stayed in that night and realistically just tried to stay calm and have a relaxed evening.”
Reflecting on the moment he received the test results, Mr. Maynard stated:
“When the result came in, I can’t even begin to explain how it felt — unbelievable. It took a lot of time to process it and to come to terms with the fact that there are many aspects of the situation that I will never fully understand or be able to rationalise.”#newsafro_
