Nollywood Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe Hospitalised After On-Set Altercation with Zubby Micheal
Nollywood actor Godwin Nnadiekwe has been hospitalised with internal bleeding after a violent incident on set involving fellow actor Zubby Micheal.
Nnadiekwe revealed in an Instagram post that during filming, he was unexpectedly kicked in the chest by a colleague—a move that was not part of the scripted scene. Although he did not name the individual directly, a behind-the-scenes video circulating online shows Zubby Micheal angrily exiting a vehicle, jumping over a barricade, and kicking Nnadiekwe as he appeared, before entering the building.
Nnadiekwe emphasized that he did not intend to publicly call out anyone but shared the incident to shed light on what happened.
In a public statement, Mr. Godwin Nnadiekwe detailed that he sustained a forceful and unexpected kick to the chest from a fellow actor during the filming of a scene. He emphasized that this act was neither scripted nor authorized by the director or production team.
Mr. Nnadiekwe further disclosed that, following the incident, he experienced significant pain and was compelled to seek medical treatment independently, as no immediate assistance or first aid was provided by the production crew on set.
He stated: “During a scene, I received a kick to the chest from my colleague that wasn’t part of the script or directed by the director.”
Mr. Godwin Nnadiekwe emphasized that all physical actions performed on set must be deliberate and conducted strictly under the director’s supervision and instruction.
He further issued a heartfelt appeal to stakeholders within the film industry, urging actors, producers, and production companies to prioritize the safety and well-being of all personnel. This call is particularly critical given the frequent absence of insurance coverage, on-site medical support, and formal safety protocols on many productions.
Mr. Nnadiekwe stated, “When we’re working without insurance policies or readily available first aid, unexpected physical actions like this, even if accidental, can have real consequences… What if something more serious had happened?”
Subsequent to Mr. Nnadiekwe’s social media disclosure, his management released an official statement confirming a deterioration in his medical condition. They reported that he had been urgently admitted to hospital and is currently receiving treatment for internal bleeding.
The management’s statement identified Mr. Zubby Micheal as the individual involved in the incident and read in part:
“We regret to inform you that Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe was rushed to the hospital this evening. He is undergoing treatment for internal bleeding following an incident involving a kick to the chest during filming with his colleague, Mr. Zubby Micheal.”#newsafro_
