Afropop star Yemi Alade has released her latest single, You Are, an empowering anthem celebrating strength, resilience, and cultural heritage.
According to a statement to Saturday Beats, the song is inspired by the upcoming superhero fantasy series Iyanu and is accompanied by a lyric video produced by Lion Forge Entertainment, featuring animation from the show.
Dubbed “Mama Africa,” Alade infuses You Are with her signature vibrant vocals and cultural influences, weaving a story of self-discovery and destiny.
“Music has always been a powerful way to tell our stories, and You Are speaks to our strength and divine power,” she shared. “It’s an anthem for anyone discovering their own greatness. Bringing this to life for Iyanu—a series rooted in Nigerian mythology—is an honour. This is for every young dreamer who believes in their destiny.”
You Are was produced by Grammy-nominated artist Michael Hodges and co-written by Hodges, Yemi Alade, Kayla Morrison, Gerald Trottman, and Ghian Wright.
Hodges praised Alade’s performance, stating, “She is the right voice for this message. Her vocals bring a unique energy and emotion that define the song.”
For Iyanu creator, executive producer, and showrunner Roye Okupe, the collaboration holds special significance. “As a Nigerian storyteller, seeing Iyanu come to life has been a dream realized. Yemi Alade’s You Are perfectly captures the essence of the show—strength, resilience, and the magic of our heritage. This song will inspire audiences just as much as Iyanu’s journey will,” he said.#newsafro_
