Brian Nolan, the bereaved brother of the late Linda Nolan, has publicly disclosed his cancer diagnosis, mere weeks following her passing.
The Nolan family has faced multiple battles with cancer, with Bernie Nolan tragically passing away from breast cancer in 2013. Anne Nolan, now 74, was diagnosed with the disease in 2000, while Coleen Nolan, 60, received a skin cancer diagnosis in 2023.
Brian Nolan, the fifth of the eight siblings, expressed his profound distress, stating, “I just want cancer to leave us alone,” in an interview with The Mirror.
Describing the impact of his own diagnosis, Brian likened it to “being hit by a train” and admitted that upon first receiving the news, he feared the worst.
Brian Nolan candidly acknowledged the emotional turmoil following his diagnosis, stating, “You start plunging into the abyss of: ‘I’m going to die.'” However, he found reassurance in his urologist’s determination, recalling, “The urologist stood up and said, ‘We’re going to treat this, and we’re going to cure this.’ I’m focusing on that and hope to God I can have the courage my sisters had.”
Fortunately, medical evaluations confirmed that the cancer has not spread, and Brian is scheduled to undergo surgery for the removal of his prostate gland.
Amid his own health concerns, Brian deliberately withheld his diagnosis from his siblings, recognizing the immense emotional toll already placed on the family by Linda Nolan’s deteriorating condition before her passing in January. “I thought I was doing the right thing, and I still do,” he explained. “It would have meant more tears, and we were already knee-deep in tears and knee-deep in grief.”
Despite his private battle, Brian remained devoted to his late sister, spending 28 hours at her bedside during her final days.
His sister, Loose Women panelist Coleen Nolan, admitted that upon learning of Brian’s diagnosis, she was left speechless, describing her reaction as going “completely numb” and wanting to “scream.” However, she also expressed immense pride in her brother’s resilience, affirming that they will confront this challenge together as a family.#newsafro_
