Teddi Mellencamp received a much-needed boost on Monday when her estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave, brought their daughters to visit her in the hospital as she recovers from a grueling brain surgery. Edwin, 47, shared a photo on his Instagram Stories, showing him with their daughter Slate, 12, and his daughter Bella, 15, from a previous relationship with Christina Mecklenburg. “On our way to visit Mom,” Edwin captioned the heartwarming photo, tagging his daughters.
In the photo, Edwin wrapped an arm around Slate, while Bella sweetly rested her chin on his shoulder, showing a tender family moment.
Edwin, who separated from Teddi in November, also took to Instagram to express gratitude to Teddi’s fans for their support during her recovery. “Our family is thankful to everybody for your continued prayers and well wishes,” he wrote in a heartfelt text post. “Teddi is beyond grateful for the outpouring of love while she continues to recover.”
Edwin added a simple “Thank you” in his caption, accompanied by praying hands and a heart emoji, expressing his appreciation for the support.
While Teddi focused on her recovery in the hospital, Edwin took charge of the parenting duties. On Monday, he shared more photos of his children on Instagram Stories, featuring the rest of their brood who had stayed behind from the hospital visit. Edwin, sporting a short white beard, smiled softly as he posed next to his oldest child Bella, as well as his younger children with Teddi—four-year-old daughter Dove and 10-year-old son Cruz. Despite the circumstances, the children appeared happy, sporting sweet, relaxed smiles.
“Dinner with the fam tonight,” Edwin captioned the photo of the family outing to El Mariachi Grill in Encino.
Meanwhile, Teddi’s sister, Justice, 40, also provided an update on the reality star’s condition. She shared an emotional photo of herself at Teddi’s bedside while she slept, hooked up to IVs, offering a glimpse of the difficult road ahead for Teddi as she recovers.
The photo shared by Justice appeared to be taken after Teddi underwent surgery to remove tumors from her brain last week. In her emotional message, Justice described her sister as the “strongest person” she knew while acknowledging the pain Teddi was enduring.
“Watching a loved one suffer is horrific,” Justice wrote. “I’ve tried to get back to everyone who has reached out & I know Teddi will share her journey when she is ready. She is by far the strongest person I know.”
She continued, “So many emotions as I travel home today but her village is the best one I’ve ever seen and I’m so grateful for them. Your prayers are everything. Thank you.”
Justice and Teddi are the daughters of legendary singer John Mellencamp and his ex-wife Victoria Granucci. John Mellencamp has five children from three different relationships.
Teddi had previously shared that she would undergo emergency surgery to remove tumors from her brain after they were discovered following “several weeks” of “severe and debilitating headaches.” In her Instagram statement, she revealed that two tumors would be removed that day, with the remaining “smaller tumors” to be treated with radiation at a later date.#newsafro_
