Kylie Jenner’s fans humorously remarked that she’s “not in Calabasas anymore” as she interacted with BAFTA host David Tennant alongside her boyfriend, Timothée Chalamet, during the star-studded ceremony on Sunday. The former Doctor Who actor, who was hosting the British awards at the Royal Festival Hall, playfully teased the couple. Tennant jokingly claimed that Chalamet was actually the “runner-up” in a Timothée Chalamet lookalike competition, an event that Tennant himself attended back in October.
David Tennant humorously remarked, “We are very privileged tonight to be joined by the runner-up in New York’s recent Timothée Chalamet lookalike competition. Welcome to the BAFTAs. I can see it, young man. There’s a definite likeness, isn’t there? How long are you in London?”
Timothée Chalamet responded, “Three days.”
David continued the playful banter, “You’ve got to work on the voice—haven’t quite got the voice yet. Lovely attention to detail, though. He is with a Kylie Jenner lookalike.”
Fans quickly flooded X (formerly known as Twitter) to express their disbelief and excitement over seeing Kylie Jenner interact with David Tennant at the BAFTAs, with many saying it was an unexpected moment they never imagined would happen. One fan wrote, “Kylie Jenner experiencing The Proclaimers and Take That in one night. She’s not in Calabasas anymore; David Tennant calling Kylie Jenner a lookalike TO HER FACE is sending me.”
Others shared their amazement at the unlikely pairing, commenting, “Didn’t ever think I’d see David Tennant and Kylie Jenner interact, but here we are. Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner’s lookalikes at the BAFTAs.” Another fan added, “Losing my mind watching Kylie Jenner seeing Wallace and Gromit win multiple awards (as it should) and Take That perform.”
This all comes after Timothée Chalamet sparked a frenzy in New York last October, when he surprised fans by showing up at his own lookalike contest. Surrounded by bodyguards, the actor posed for pictures with his curly-haired doppelgangers, some of whom had dressed as his iconic characters, including Willy Wonka and Dune’s Paul Atreides. In the chaos, some fans mistakenly showered attention on the lookalikes, believing they were face-to-face with the real Chalamet.
The event, which was advertised on flyers across New York, was part of a series of doppelganger competitions hosted by YouTube personality Anthony Po, further adding to the playful pandemonium.
As news of the lookalike competition spread on social media, thousands of people quickly RSVP’d to the event, which promised a $50 prize for the winner. However, just minutes after the competition began—and before Timothée Chalamet made his surprise appearance—police arrived and ordered the large crowd to disperse from Washington Square Park.
Organizers were slapped with a $500 fine for holding an “unpermitted costume contest,” and at least one doppelganger was reportedly dragged away in handcuffs as the crowd shouted, “Let him go!”
Witnesses and participants described the scene as chaotic, with many saying it quickly turned into a spectacle. Bystander Megan Hattie Stahl, 33, shared with DailyMail.com, “It was really funny, like a spectacle. The people filming it and the people reacting to the cops became another layer of spectacle. It was just absurd.”#newsafro_
