Caggie Dunlop, an original star of Made in Chelsea, has announced that she is expecting her first child. She shared the joyful news in a heartfelt Instagram post on Wednesday.
Having starred on the E4 show for three series before departing in 2012, Caggie revealed she is set to welcome a baby with her boyfriend, who has not been named. Alongside the announcement, she posted a video capturing the early stages of her “surreal” pregnancy journey, expressing her admiration for her body and the incredible things women are capable of creating.
Caggie also revealed that she and her boyfriend are keeping the baby’s gender a “surprise” and are eagerly anticipating meeting their little one.
Her heartfelt caption read: “Our little spirit baby is on the way. In May!! Another Taurus, like me. It still feels surreal to say. Pregnancy has been a wild ride, and in just three months, we’ll be meeting this new little soul. I keep looking at my tummy grow and am in awe of my body and of women and what we do and what we create. It’s pure magic.”
Caggie also shared her personal journey, saying, “I’ve been taking things day by day, learning as I go. There’s so much information out there about pregnancy and motherhood, what you should or shouldn’t do, that it can feel overwhelming. So I’ve instinctively kept this time quiet and sacred and trusted in my body and what it’s telling me. But now, I’m excited to share it with you all.”
She continued, “I’m really enjoying this stage of pregnancy (despite the insomnia and perpetual tiredness!). The kicks are especially wonderful, especially when we sing to the baby and it starts kicking around.”
“We’ve decided to keep the gender a surprise, so we are constantly guessing and wondering who this little person will be… What we do know is that, whoever they are, they are already deeply loved, and we cannot wait to meet them.”
Many of Caggie’s former Made in Chelsea co-stars offered their congratulations in the comments. Millie Mackintosh wrote, “I can’t wait to meet him or her!! So so happy for you,” while Hugo Taylor simply commented, “Love ya.” Emma Louise Connolly, married to MIC star Ollie Proudlock, gushed, “The best.”
Caggie, who shot to fame with Made in Chelsea when the show first launched over ten years ago, was part of the original cast alongside Spencer Matthews, Hugo Taylor, and Millie Mackintosh. Since leaving the show in 2012 after three series, she has kept her love life relatively private, though she occasionally shares glimpses of her current relationship with her unnamed partner.
During her time on Made in Chelsea, Caggie’s will-they-won’t-they relationship with co-star Spencer Matthews, who is now married to Vogue Williams, was a major storyline, capturing the attention of viewers.
After leaving the show, Caggie turned her focus to her career, launching her podcast Saturn Returns during the lockdown. On the podcast, she speaks with a range of experts about various topics, including sex and relationships, spirituality, and diet culture.
Reflecting on her Made in Chelsea days in an interview with Tatler, Caggie revealed, “Made in Chelsea gave me PTSD! I wanted to be a certain person in order to fit in… I was living for other people, or [being] what I thought I needed to be. I wasn’t really paying much attention to who I really was. I concealed the more melancholic aspects of myself that would write poetry.”#newsafro_
