Veteran Ghanaian actor Mawuli Semevo was involved in a severe domestic fire accident on Friday evening at his residence in Adenta SSNIT flats. The fire reportedly started in the hall while he was asleep in the bedroom. Upon escaping through the flames, he collapsed outside and was promptly rushed to Ridge Hospital by neighbors. He is currently receiving treatment for burns covering approximately 44% of his body and is experiencing respiratory complications affecting his breathing.
Judith Addison, Executive Director of Beyond Burns International—a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting burn survivors—has highlighted the severity of Semevo’s condition and the substantial medical expenses involved. She emphasized the urgent need for financial assistance to cover specialized care, medications, and potential surgeries.
In light of this, Semevo’s colleagues, including veteran actress Edinam Atatsi, have visited him in the hospital and are actively soliciting funds for his treatment. They are appealing to the public for support during this critical time.
Mawuli Semevo’s condition has sparked widespread concern, particularly after Judith Addison, Executive Director of Beyond Burns International, made a public appeal for assistance.
In a video shared on social media, Addison described the severity of the situation, stating, “Beyond Burns International got an SOS that something unfortunate has happened. We came here today, and veteran actor Mawuli Semevo has been involved in a severe fire accident. I came here to see him, and his life is hanging in the balance.”
