Beyoncé’s public charity foundation, BeyGOOD, has donated $2.5 million to support fire relief efforts in Los Angeles as the devastating wildfires continue to ravage Southern California.
The 43-year-old singer, known for her hit song Halo, is working to assist victims affected by the catastrophic fires that began on Tuesday amid strong Santa Ana winds. As of Sunday, the death toll has risen to 24.
The Pacific Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire have already destroyed around 12,000 structures and scorched a combined 37,830 acres, underscoring the widespread devastation. BeyGOOD’s donation will provide essential resources to help communities recover from the disaster.
On Sunday, Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD foundation announced a $2.5 million donation to aid families impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires through a post on the foundation’s Instagram page.
The caption expressed solidarity, stating, “Los Angeles we stand with you. BeyGOOD is taking action by announcing the LA Fire Relief Fund with a donation of 2.5 million dollars.”
The funds will be directed to families in the Altadena/Pasadena area who have lost their homes, as well as to churches and community centers to help address the immediate needs of those affected by the wildfires.
In conclusion, the BeyGOOD foundation shared a message urging support for the impacted families, inviting people to learn more about the organization and its mission by visiting https://beygood.org.
Founded in 2013 by Beyoncé, the foundation focuses on economic equity by supporting marginalized and under-resourced communities. Its initiatives include providing educational scholarships, advocating for internships, and advancing entrepreneurship and small business sustainability both domestically and internationally.
Beyoncé has consistently used the foundation to give back. In 2020, she pledged $6 million to support mental health services during the COVID-19 pandemic. She also donated $500,000 through BeyGOOD to help those facing housing insecurity during the pandemic.
Most recently, in February 2024, Beyoncé donated another $500,000 to cosmetology schools and salons. She explained that the fund highlights the impact professional stylists have on hair health and emphasizes the importance of supporting the salon community. Beyoncé’s donation aims to foster talent, promote professionalism, and encourage entrepreneurship in the hair industry.
Beyoncé emphasized the profound impact hairstylists have on their clients, stating, “Hairstylists have an immense impact on the people in their chairs. They create a sacred space where we can show up how we want and express ourselves through our hair. We’re honored to give back to this amazing community.”
In addition to Beyoncé’s efforts, other celebrities are stepping in to help with LA fire relief. Paris Hilton, who launched an emergency fund through her nonprofit 11:11 Media Impact, donated $100,000 to support victims of the wildfires. Hilton herself lost her Malibu beach home in the Pacific Palisades fire.
She expressed her sympathy, writing, “My heart is with everyone impacted by the devastating fires here in LA. While I’ve lost my Malibu home, my thoughts are with the countless families who have lost so much more – their homes, cherished keepsakes, the communities they loved, and their sense of stability.”
As a mother, Hilton also noted the emotional toll on families, saying, “I can’t imagine the pain and fear of not having a safe place for your babies.” She launched the emergency fund to assist displaced families, particularly those with young children, and pledged a personal contribution of $100,000, offering to match additional donations up to $100,000.
Hilton’s plan includes providing cash assistance, temporary housing, essential supplies, and supporting displaced pets by collaborating with animal shelters.#newsafro_
