Angelina Jolie surprised shoppers this weekend when she was spotted at Blick Art Supplies in Hollywood. The 49-year-old actress, known for her role in Maria, also made a stop at a vintage T-shirt store on Melrose Avenue. Jolie looked effortlessly chic in a tan Christian Dior trench coat, with a hint of her beige dress visible beneath. She completed the look with brown pointy-toed pumps and sunglasses, leaving her highlighted hair down and straight. Despite her star power, she was able to shop with minimal attention, as shoppers respected her privacy.
Angelina Jolie exuded classic elegance, pairing a refined look with brown, pointy-toed pumps and sunglasses as she strolled through the store, her highlighted hair styled in a sleek, straight look. With a serene smile, she was left to enjoy her time by respectful onlookers as she browsed.
Amid receiving accolades and award nominations for her portrayal of Maria Callas in her latest film, Jolie shared that this role is the first she’s been able to fully commit to in years, reflecting on the personal significance of the project.
In a candid Vanity Fair interview, Angelina Jolie opened up about the personal challenges she faced during a difficult period in her life, which led to her stepping back from acting. She discussed how ongoing stresses, particularly her tumultuous divorce from Brad Pitt, caused her to “go very dark” and withdraw from the public eye. “I didn’t have a lot of light and life within me,” she shared. “Your lights dim.”
Jolie explained that her decision to take a hiatus from acting wasn’t driven by creativity but by practical concerns, especially the need to be at home more. However, she revealed that her role as Maria Callas marked the start of her emotional recovery, describing it as a moment where she began to “come alive again.”
Reflecting on the impact of difficult relationships, Jolie admitted that she had struggled with feeling emotionally vulnerable and feared her work was being exploited in the wrong way.
The actress also touched on the lasting effects of her highly publicized split from Pitt, who she was married to from 2014 until their divorce in 2016. The separation sparked a bitter legal battle over child custody and property, which has continued to affect their family. Jolie and Pitt share three biological children—Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16—as well as their adopted children, Maddox, 23; Pax, 21; and Zahara, 19. Since the divorce, Zahara, Shiloh, and Vivienne have dropped Pitt’s last name.
Reports indicate that Maddox and Pax no longer speak to their father, Brad Pitt, while Knox and Vivienne are believed to still maintain some contact with the actor. These revelations come shortly after Angelina Jolie shared her feelings of loneliness in a recent interview, where she expressed how she relates to the isolation experienced by her role model, Maria Callas. “I have my children I love, but as an adult, I’m often alone,” Jolie admitted, highlighting her struggles to navigate life on her own. She mentioned that many artists may understand this sense of emotional solitude.
Jolie’s personal challenges are compounded by her ongoing legal battles with Pitt, including their acrimonious dispute over their French vineyard. Recently, Jolie scored a significant legal victory when a judge ordered Pitt to hand over documents that could shed light on his alleged abusive behavior toward her and their children.
This legal feud has been marked by public acrimony ever since Pitt sued Jolie in 2022 over her sale of her stake in their Chateau Miraval estate, which produces an award-winning sparkling rosé.
Amidst these tensions, Jolie is focusing on her career, with her upcoming project Stitches requiring her to learn French fluently, as the film will be shot in both English and French.
