Davina McCall’s partner, hairdresser Michael Douglas, gave the television star a haircut during an Instagram Livestream on Saturday evening.
The 57-year-old TV presenter informed her fans that it was her first haircut in over a month and the first since undergoing surgery for a benign brain tumor, a rare condition affecting just three in a million people. Despite the circumstances, the star appeared to be recovering well and was eager to join her partner of five years to film the video.
Davina McCall, 57, and her boyfriend, Michael Douglas, 50, who have been together since 2019, shared in the video that they had initially met 20 years earlier when Michael had cut Davina’s hair. During the clip, the stylist explained his approach to cutting Davina’s hair, walking fans through the process while showcasing his techniques and offering tips. He also mentioned that Davina had requested some pampering before the couple hosted friends for the evening.
At one juncture, Michael visibly displayed Davina’s hair and the scar resulting from her surgery, while the two engaged in a discussion regarding her hair loss following childbirth. Michael remarked, “People assume you have thick hair, but it is, in fact, rather thin.” In response, Davina, visibly startled, exclaimed, “What!?”
As the conversation continued, Michael clarified that while Davina’s hair is thick, she does not have a substantial volume of it. Davina, with a sense of regret, acknowledged, “I used to have a lot of hair, but having children changed that.”
Later in the video, Davina expressed sorrow over the condition of her hair post-surgery, stating, “We lost a significant portion here,” while gesturing toward her scar. She further remarked, “It’s healed now, though a bit crusty,” while pointing to the large scar.
At another point, Michael, while trimming some layers at the front of her hair, inadvertently caused Davina to wince, prompting her to inhale sharply. He promptly apologized, acknowledging that he had been too rough during the process.
