Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly lost a significant amount of weight and appeared “greyer” after spending three months in custody at the notorious Metropolitan Detention Center in New York City. The 55-year-old rapper is awaiting trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. He was seen looking shockingly thin during the latest hearing in his case, as noted by a journalist who attended the proceedings on Wednesday.
Law and Crime reporter Elizabeth Millner was quoted by Page Six following the hearing, stating, “He appeared just astonishingly thinner, which you can expect from him being inside a federal detention centre for a couple of months now. A lot different from the luxury lifestyle that he was living before, but he appeared very noticeably thinner, and maybe being locked up in detention is starting to wear on him.”
Millner also pointed out that Combs’ appearance was starkly different from a video that surfaced online, showing him playing hacky sack in Central Park just days before his arrest on September 16, 2024.
Elizabeth Millner also noted a change in the rapper’s hair, stating, “He appeared greyer a little bit.”
Cameras were not permitted inside the courtroom during Combs’ appearance. However, a source close to the jailed Bad Boy Records founder told Page Six that he is “fit, healthy and fully focused on his defense.” The source added, “He has been very active, remains in good spirits, and, as always, he was happy to see his children.” Additionally, the source mentioned that Combs is “working out regularly.”
Combs has been denied bail three times while in federal custody. After a months-long investigation, he was charged with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution—charges he denies. His trial is scheduled for May 5, 2025.
Though Combs was initially placed on suicide watch during his first week in custody, he was removed shortly afterward. His lawyer stated that his client remains “focused and very strong.”
Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, previously stated that food has been the “roughest part” of Combs’ imprisonment.
During Wednesday’s hearing, Combs exchanged heartfelt gestures with two of his sons, Christian and Justin, as they were present in court. The hearing was primarily focused on scheduling future court dates and for the prosecution to hand over essential documents. Prosecutors have reportedly gathered a substantial amount of evidence against Combs.
As he left the courthouse, Combs wished those gathered outside a “happy holidays,” according to ABC News, before thanking his lawyers and saying, “I just want to say goodbye.”
Christian, 26, and Justin, 30, both appeared in court and gestured toward their father with hands folded in prayer. Combs responded by waving at them. Neither of his sons paid attention to reporters asking for comments as they exited the courthouse. Despite the brief reunion, the two men appeared grim-faced as they left, as captured by DailyMail.com cameras.
