Jennifer Lopez expressed her gratitude towards her mother, thanking her for being a source of support during the difficult period following her divorce from Ben Affleck.
On Friday, Jennifer Lopez, 55, took to Instagram to share a heartfelt birthday tribute to her mother, affectionately nicknamed “The Lupinator.”
“Happy birthday mommy!! I love you so very much!! Thank you for being there for me always…” she wrote, accompanied by two white heart emojis and the hashtag #TheLupinator. The post’s cover photo featured a sweet selfie of the mother-daughter duo, both showcasing their identical smiles.
The Atlas actress, who recently reunited with her estranged husband Ben Affleck to watch their children from separate relationships perform in a play, also shared a photo of her mother looking radiant, even while talking and with rollers in her hair.
Additionally, Lopez posted a throwback photo from 2009, showing her and her mother sitting and posing together at a gala dinner.
Lopez’s post also included a recent selfie taken by her mother, showcasing her glamorous purple jewels that perfectly complemented her outfit and makeup.
Growing up in the Bronx, Lopez is the middle child of three siblings—Leslie Ann Lopez, 57, and Lynda Lopez, 53. The trio were raised by their parents, Rodriguez and David Lopez, who reportedly separated in 1999 after 33 years of marriage.
In a 2020 interview with ET, Lopez shared insights into her mother’s young motherhood. “She got married when she was 20,” Lopez explained, adding that her mother had all three daughters by the age of 25. “She had my sister when she was 21.”
Reflecting on her childhood, Lopez said, “We all grew up together. It was like living with a teenager, to be honest.” Despite her mother’s young age, Lopez expressed that she learned a great deal from her, especially a strong sense of independence.
