Davido is set to celebrate his 32nd birthday on November 21, 2024, by making a remarkable donation of ₦300 million to support victims of drug abuse and orphanages. This marks the fourth publicized donation from the Afrobeats superstar, continuing his tradition of giving back on his birthday. His latest contribution will go toward assisting young people in avoiding drug addiction, alongside supporting orphanages across Nigeria.
Previously, Davido made notable donations, including ₦250 million to 292 orphanages in 2021, and ₦237 million to over 400 orphanages in 2023. In February 2024, he pledged another ₦300 million through his foundation, the David Adeleke Foundation.
On his X (formerly Twitter) page, Davido shared: “Once again my birthday this year, we donating to orphanages and a charity that helps young people stay away from drug abuse & addiction. This year is N300m. Details to follow soon ❤️.” His stance against drug abuse marks a significant moment, given his past controversy with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in 2015, when his music video for “Fans Mi,” featuring Meek Mill, sparked backlash for showcasing hard drugs.
