Eddie Redmayne embraced a Seventies-inspired look at the Berlin premiere of The Day of the Jackal on Tuesday night, aligning with his latest character, who mirrors the iconic fashion of the era. The new series, based on Frederick Forsyth’s novel, offers a modern twist on the 1973 political thriller film starring Edward Fox.
The 42-year-old actor rocked a retro oversized suit paired with a dark shirt and a white tie, perfectly capturing the essence of the Seventies as he posed on the red carpet.
The show features Eddie Redmayne as the elusive assassin, the Jackal, a role he confessed to envying for its character traits. Redmayne shared, “I wish I were as refined, impeccably groomed, and meticulous. I have none of the grace of the Jackal. I’m terrible in a crisis; he gets cooler, I get sweatier.”
In The Day of the Jackal, when the Jackal successfully assassinates a prominent political figure, he sets off a high-stakes cat-and-mouse chase with MI6 agent Bianca, portrayed by Lashana Lynch.
The 36-year-old actress, who is also a co-executive producer on the series, attended the Berlin premiere at the Zoo Palast. Heavily pregnant, Lynch wore a flowing black Balenciaga gown with a dramatic bow that elegantly concealed her baby bump.
Lynch and her husband, actor Zackary Momoh, 36, revealed their pregnancy last month, with Lynch debuting her bump at the New York premiere. Speaking to Vogue, the actress shared her thoughts on dressing for the red carpet during pregnancy. She explained, “I feel comfortable and at ease, but also in charge of myself. Some red carpet gowns, although beautiful, can feel like you’re putting on a different part of yourself, whereas here I feel like I’m celebrating the female figure.”
The series is now available to stream on Sky.
