Britney Spears has declared she’s “married” again in a peculiar social media post, just one year after finalizing her divorce.
The 42-year-old pop superstar took to Instagram on Sunday to share a video of herself dressed in a white silk wedding gown and a coordinating lace veil. Rather than announcing a marriage to a groom, the “Toxic” hitmaker surprised her followers by revealing that she has married herself.
In the caption, she stated, “The day I married myself… Bringing it back because it might seem embarrassing or stupid, but I think it’s the most brilliant thing I’ve ever done!!!” The video showcased the singer posing in her bridal attire while adjusting her veil.
Britney paired her wedding dress with pointed-toe black heels and wore her blonde hair in cascading waves. The mother of two accessorized with a delicate gold necklace and her signature black eyeliner for the occasion. The video featured the song “Fields of Gold” by Sting.
Additionally, the Princess of Pop posted a photo of an empty church without a caption. She then shared a poolside clip of herself in a yellow bikini, enjoying a sunny day.
Following that, she posted another video of herself in a white slip dress and black boots while standing at the entrance of a private jet, suggesting she was heading off for a solo honeymoon. She captioned the video, “!!! Turks and Caicos here I come.”
Sam Asghari filed for divorce from Britney Spears in August of last year, after 14 months of marriage. The divorce was officially finalized in May, following a settlement between the two.
Meanwhile, Asghari has ignited dating rumors after being seen with a blonde woman at a Los Angeles park in September. Reports from TMZ indicate that he was seen being affectionate with his companion, including smacking her butt at one point. The Iranian-American model was also observed placing his hand on the woman’s back while they walked with the dog Britney had gifted him following their engagement in 2021.
Britney Spears and Sam Asghari were married on June 9, 2022, in a star-studded ceremony at her former mansion in Thousand Oaks, just weeks after experiencing a miscarriage. They had expressed intentions to “continue trying to expand our beautiful family,” a goal that ultimately did not materialize.
In her New York Times-bestselling memoir, The Woman In Me, published in 2023, Spears reflected on her relationship with Asghari, stating, “I have an appreciation for how stable he is. I love that he doesn’t drink. He’s a gift from God.”
