Edo Queens are gearing up for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, set to take place from November 8 to 23 in Morocco. Following the draw at Complex Mohamed VI in Salé, the Nigerian champions expressed their determination to excel in the tournament.
In a statement on their official X handle, they declared, “Challenge Accepted! We know our path, and now it’s time to own it! Ready to take on the continent at the CAF Women’s Champions League. As far as bringing it home.”
The Benin-City-based club recently secured third place in the 2024 Betsy Obaseki Women’s Football Tournament and will compete in Group B, facing tough opponents including Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa, Tutankhamun from Egypt, and CBE from Ethiopia.
The competition will feature eight clubs consisting of champions from CAF’s six zonal competitions, along with the hosts AS FAR and the defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa, all vying for the coveted title. The winners will receive USD 400,000 in prize money, while the runners-up will take home USD 250,000.
