The character of Linda Hamilton in the fifth and final season of Stranger Things has been unveiled in first-look photos. Hamilton joins the cast, bringing her iconic presence to the series. Details about her character and her role in the highly anticipated season have sparked excitement among fans as they prepare for the show’s concluding chapter.
Linda Hamilton, renowned for her role in Terminator, was reported back in June 2023 to be joining the cast of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things. However, it took over a year for her to finally get in front of the camera.
The 68-year-old actress was spotted on Wednesday filming a scene on set in Palmetto, Georgia, generating excitement among fans eager to see her contribution to the series.
While few details have been disclosed about Linda Hamilton’s character in Stranger Things, she was seen wearing dark green military-style fatigues.
In addition, Hamilton was photographed standing beside a vehicle painted in the same military hue, suggesting her character may have ties to a military theme or background.
Linda Hamilton’s costume in Stranger Things resembled a jumpsuit cinched at her slim midriff with a thick belt. The top half of the jumpsuit was left open, revealing another green shirt underneath, and her character was appropriately outfitted in combat boots.
Typically seen with dirty blonde hair, Hamilton sported a short gray hairstyle swept to the side for her role. She was reportedly filming outside the building that serves as the exterior for the WSQK radio station, a location featured in previous seasons of the series.
In one of the first-look photos, she was seen standing among crew members, who appeared to be reviewing a scene playback on a monitor.
In February, Linda Hamilton expressed that her casting in Stranger Things was a mixed blessing. Speaking with Us Weekly, she revealed her status as a huge fan of the series, stating that she had “watched every season with relish” and “just love[s]” it.
However, Hamilton has a long-standing practice of not watching films or television shows in which she appears, presenting a challenge for her fandom. She explained, “When you really buy into something, you don’t see yourself in it. So I think, in a way, it kind of ruined the show for me. I never watch [a project] once I’m in something.”
She further elaborated, “It would just completely take me out of the reality of it to see myself in there. So I won’t be watching [Season 5].”
Hamilton revealed that the show’s creators, Ross and Matt Duffer, provided her with details about her character during a video chat session. However, they intentionally withheld much of the final season’s plot to prevent leaks.
“It takes a lot of discipline to not know where it’s going to go. But that’s to protect it from all of the people that want to know,” Hamilton explained.
It has been previously announced that the fifth season of Stranger Things will also mark the conclusion of the long-running series. While Netflix has yet to announce a premiere date, the show is expected to air sometime in 2025.
