Liam Payne‘s former partner, Maya Henry, has reportedly expressed shock following the singer’s death. This comes approximately one week after she had issued a cease and desist letter in response to what she characterized as Payne’s “obsessive” communication. Additionally, Henry had been in the process of drafting a novel detailing their alleged “toxic” romantic relationship.
The One Direction star, aged 31, tragically fell from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. A source close to Maya Henry has reportedly informed newsafro.com that “she is, understandably, in a state of shock at this time.”
The model, Maya Henry, was reportedly informed of the incident when a member of her team was contacted by a journalist.
Emergency services have since set up a red tent outside the hotel.
According to several witnesses, Liam Payne fell from his room at the Casa Sur Palmero Hotel shortly after 5:00 PM on Wednesday.
Investigations into the death of the 31-year-old are ongoing.
Alberto Crescenti, a spokesperson for the city ambulance service provider, stated that Liam Payne had fallen approximately 40 meters, sustaining “severe injuries incompatible with life.”
Crescenti further explained: “The alarm was raised at 5:04 PM local time, reporting a person lying in an internal patio at Casa Sur.
An ambulance arrived at 5:11 PM, and the individual was pronounced dead.
It was later revealed that the deceased was a well-known singer. Sadly, the injuries sustained in the fall were fatal, and resuscitation efforts were not possible.”
Just days prior, Texan model Maya Henry, 23, instructed her legal representatives to issue a cease and desist letter to Liam Payne, accusing the singer of repeatedly contacting her despite their breakup. Henry further alleged that Payne had been obsessively reaching out to her family and friends, including her mother, Azteca Henry.
In a statement provided to MailOnline, Henry’s attorneys stated: “Maya Henry issued a cease and desist letter to Payne last week following the emergence of new and concerning information. She has retained attorneys Marco Crawford and Daniel Cerna to represent her. At this time, that is her only comment on the matter.”
Last week, Henry, the daughter of multi-millionaire personal injury lawyer Thomas J. Henry, shared her perspective with her TikTok followers, accusing Payne of extreme measures to maintain contact. She stated, “Ever since we broke up, he messages me, blows up my phone—not just from his own phone but from various numbers, so I never know where it’s coming from.”
Maya Henry further alleged that Liam Payne resorted to creating new iCloud accounts to continue messaging her, stating: “He’ll create new iCloud accounts to message me—it’s always a new damn iCloud account. Every time I see one pop up on my phone, I’m like, ‘here we f***ing go again.'”
She also claimed that Payne had not only contacted her via email but had bombarded her mother’s phone as well, adding: “Is this normal behavior to you?”
Last week, Henry accused Payne of leveraging the loyalty of dedicated One Direction fans on social media to criticize her publicly.
Payne and Henry were first seen together in 2019, but their on-and-off relationship ended in 2022, nearly a year after they called off their engagement.
Since their split, Payne has entered a relationship with Kate Cassidy, while Henry has focused on promoting her debut novel Looking Forward, a romance that mirrors aspects of her own life, telling the story of a girl who falls in love with a pop star.
On a recent episode of The Internet is Dead podcast, Henry addressed the book’s “fictional elements,” explaining that while it’s a fiction novel, it draws from real events in her life. She also noted that fans didn’t initially believe the story was about her ex-boyfriend.
