Miranda Hart’s secret husband, known as the “Bristol Boy,” was recently spotted picking her up from the Cheltenham Literature Festival. The couple’s relationship has been kept under wraps, but this public appearance highlights their connection. Details about their romance have emerged, revealing how the comedian has found love with her husband, whose identity has captivated fans and sparked interest in their private life.
Miranda Hart’s secret husband has been revealed as Richard Fairs, a handsome 60-year-old divorcee. He was spotted picking her up from the Cheltenham Literature Festival, just a day after she shared his first name on The Graham Norton Show.
Fairs, who plays the drums in a local swing band, was previously married to schoolteacher Jeanne Speight. The couple, who share a son, Jack, and a daughter, Shula, separated around 2017 after over 25 years of marriage. More recently, he has been living with Dr. Anjali Hariharan, an Indian homeopathic therapist.
Last night, a neighbor of Richard Fairs at his Somerset home shared with The Mail on Sunday, “I always found him a very pleasant man, very charming and charismatic. Recently, I didn’t see much of him because he stays away from home a lot now; he rarely seems to sleep here.”
Another friend of Richard Fairs mentioned that he is in the process of selling his bungalow, leading to speculation that he may have moved in with Miranda Hart at her home in Hammersmith, west London, where locals have spotted him. The neighbor stated, “I’m pretty sure he’s now sold that house or at least it’s going through. It has been on the market for a while, but I was told that he’s now managed to sell it.”
Miranda Hart, 51, first revealed her secret marriage in her autobiography, I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You, released last week. In the book, she shared that she married a building surveyor whom she met when he came to address a mould issue in her home during lockdown. However, their relationship appears to have been on-and-off, as she described being on the brink of splitting when he proposed in January during a visit to Kew Gardens.
At the Cheltenham Literature Festival, Miranda Hart shared with fans that she fell in love with Richard Fairs “almost immediately” on their first date, which was a pizza supper during the height of the pandemic. She recounted how they spent two hours in her living room talking while waiting for their pizza delivery. Hart humorously noted, “Unfortunately, mine had shunted its way across the box and turned into a calzone.” She added that her complaints about the mishap didn’t seem to faze him at all.
