Tom Cruise is reportedly planning to return to the United States after spending five years in the United Kingdom. During his time in the UK, Cruise has been seen mingling with members of the royal family and attending high-profile events such as Glastonbury Festival and socializing with Taylor Swift fans in London.
As he bid farewell to his loyal team, Tom Cruise was seen boarding his helicopter at Battersea, preparing for his return to the United States. A source informed The Sun, stating: “Tom has called the UK home for the past five years and has grown very fond of it. While there’s no doubt he’ll return when work on the next Mission: Impossible installment begins, Tom is eager to head back to the US to be closer to his son, Connor, and his friends.”
After spending five years in the UK, the 62-year-old Hollywood star concluded filming for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two on Thursday.
“The transformation has been quite remarkable—his time in England has significantly boosted both his well-being and his wider reputation, and he’s much happier as a result,” a source shared. MailOnline has reached out to Tom’s representatives for comment. While Tom used the UK as his base for filming Dead Reckoning Parts One and Two, with production now complete, he is preparing to return home to the United States.
However, Tom Cruise is likely to return to a turbulent situation at home, as Florida was struck by Hurricane Milton this week. The powerful storm is expected to affect his large apartment complex in Clearwater, FL, which sits in the hurricane’s path.
The Hollywood actor, and prominent Scientologist, was seen in London with a concerned expression as reports of the hurricane’s destruction emerged. Florida, a top destination for sun-seeking British tourists, was ravaged overnight as Hurricane Milton triggered deadly tornadoes that destroyed over 100 homes in St. Lucie County.
Millions of Floridians were forced to evacuate as the storm unleashed devastation, particularly in Tampa, where flash floods tore through the bay and up to 16 inches of rain caused widespread destruction.
Tom has owned his apartment in Florida since 2016, following the sale of his Beverly Hills properties for a substantial $39 million. He relocated to the Clearwater residence primarily due to its proximity to Scientology’s international headquarters and was reportedly very content living there.
During his five years in the UK, Tom made a lasting impression, extending his influence across various circles. He mingled with royals and celebrities, engaged with local leaders, such as market town mayors, and enjoyed attending major events and concerts, where he was often seen enthusiastically singing along.
This summer, Tom became an increasingly recognizable presence at events throughout the UK, including his appearances at Glastonbury Festival and Taylor Swift’s sold-out concerts at Wembley Stadium.
Earlier this year, he reconnected with Prince William at a charity event, where the two shared a light-hearted moment joking about the prince’s choice of footwear during the UK premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in 2022. Tom was also filmed assisting the Princess of Wales up the stairs during that same event in June 2022, and he has previously expressed his fondness for the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Cruise frequently visits a town located an hour’s drive from London, as it serves as the UK headquarters for Scientology.
