Nigerian singer Portable recently claimed he could make Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) more entertaining if given the opportunity to be on the show. Known for his energetic personality and controversial statements, Portable expressed confidence that his presence in the BBNaija house would boost the show’s excitement levels.
He stated that his unique behavior and outspoken nature would capture viewers’ attention, adding a new dynamic to the reality show. Fans reacted with mixed feelings, some intrigued by the prospect, while others expressed skepticism, considering Portable’s unpredictable character.
He asserts that the show has diminished in its entertainment value compared to previous seasons. In the wake of Big Brother Naija season 9’s conclusion on October 9, 2024, with Kellyrae emerging as the winner, the contentious artist Portable made a public statement on social media. Utilizing his Instagram story, Portable expressed his opinion that the widely praised reality program had lost its appeal and further contended that, for a payment of ₦100 million, he could personally enhance the show’s entertainment quality.
He stated, “Big Brother is no longer as exciting as it once was. None of those contestants have gained significant fame. Let them pay me ₦100 million, and I’ll bring unmatched entertainment to the show. Dr. Zeh.”
Additionally, the singer shared a blogger’s post, which read, “So Big Brother ended today, lol… Who won? Did you watch the show?”
Portable’s remarks ignited a spirited debate among fans and followers. One user commented, “But where’s the lie? I want them to do Celebrity Big Brother next year. Portable, Bobrisky, and Akpi should be housemates, please. Thank you, Biggie.”
Another user wrote, “Facts, and I know Big Brother will improve their auditions next season. If something like this happens again, they might lose the value they’ve built. We may not want to admit it, but more than 50 percent of Nigerians don’t even know who won. I only found out tonight.”
A third user added, “Big Brother should bring in people like Bobrisky, Papaya Ex, Diana Eneje, DJ Chicken, Akpi, etc. That would be crazy entertaining,” further supporting Portable’s position.
However, not all Instagram users shared the same view. One countered, “This season had arguably the least amount of toxicity, with mature contestants who knew how to resolve conflicts peacefully. So it’s understandable that a country accustomed to drama might find it less interesting.”
