A Florida woman, who liquidated her assets to fulfill her aspiration of embarking on a three-year global cruise, has been prohibited from boarding the vessel following the disclosure of a private WhatsApp conversation.
A woman who liquidated her assets to pursue a £265,000 dream cruise around the world has alleged that she has been barred from the ship following the unauthorized disclosure of her private WhatsApp messages.
Jenny Phenix, a divorced mother of two from Florida, USA, is among the unfortunate passengers whose planned three-year voyage across Europe, Asia, and the Americas has been derailed by significant delays.
Stranded in Belfast for three months, with no opportunity to enjoy the tropical climates as anticipated, those aboard the ill-fated Villa Vie Odyssey have reportedly resorted to taking Vitamin D supplements while awaiting a revised departure date.
Ms. Jenny Phenix, aged 68, sold her personal possessions to participate in the once-in-a-lifetime voyage, intending to make a stop in Miami to retrieve additional belongings for the remainder of the cruise.
However, in light of the persistent delays, Ms. Phenix expressed her frustrations in a WhatsApp group with fellow passengers, revealing that the ship was no longer scheduled to dock in Miami.
Ms. Phenix also expressed concerns that refurbishment work on the large vessel might continue even after its departure from Belfast, and that she would be required to use a temporary cabin, as the one she had originally booked was still occupied by crew members.
These concerns, shared in a WhatsApp group, were allegedly leaked to the operators of Villa Vie Residences, the company managing the ship. Subsequently, Ms. Phenix was informed that her contract for the voyage had been terminated due to “behavior impacting community morale.”
As reported by The Telegraph, the Chief Operating Officer, Kathy Villalba, communicated to Ms. Phenix: “We have received over a dozen formal complaints from residents regarding your continuous complaints and negativity. This behavior has significantly impacted the morale and well-being of other passengers. Given the overwhelming feedback, we must cancel your contract permanently to uphold the well-being and satisfaction of our community.”
