Matt LeBlanc made a rare public appearance in Los Angeles on Friday.
The 57-year-old Friends star, who previously offered Lisa Kudrow key advice on perfecting her iconic Phoebe character, was in good spirits during his visit to a car showroom in Van Nuys, just outside Los Angeles.
The 57-year-old Friends star, who once advised Lisa Kudrow on perfecting her iconic Phoebe character, appeared in good spirits during his visit to a car showroom in Van Nuys, just outside Los Angeles.
Sporting a laid-back look in a black T-shirt and dark jeans, LeBlanc looked almost unrecognizable from his heartthrob days as Joey Tribbiani on the beloved ’90s sitcom. He completed his casual outfit with dark sneakers and a navy baseball cap, keeping a low profile.
This outing marks LeBlanc’s first public appearance since December, following the passing of his Friends co-star Matthew Perry in October.
Matt LeBlanc was among the last of the Friends cast members— including Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, and David Schwimmer— to be seen in public following the passing of Matthew Perry. Perry was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his Pacific Palisades home on October 28, and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office later revealed that his death was caused by a fatal ketamine overdose.
In response to Perry’s death, LeBlanc, who portrayed Chandler Bing’s best friend Joey Tribbiani, posted on Instagram: ‘Matthew. It is with a heavy heart I say goodbye. The times we had together are honestly among the favorite times of my life. It was an honor to share the stage with you and to call you my friend. I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you. Never.’
LeBlanc’s tribute read: ‘Spread your wings and fly, brother. You’re finally free. Much love… And I guess you’re keeping the 20 bucks you owe me.’ He shared a poignant photo of the Friends cast embracing Perry at the 2004 finale taping, a snapshot previously posted in 2021. LeBlanc also posted images of Joey and Chandler hugging from the show.
In October, the five Friends stars released a joint statement regarding Perry’s tragic passing.
The Friends cast released a joint statement saying: ‘We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.’
The statement continued, ‘In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.’
Last month, Matt LeBlanc received a heartfelt birthday tribute from Jennifer Aniston, who playfully teased him about his favorite pastime—’doing nothing.’
