Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s $68 million marital mansion was reportedly “his idea” and a “major compromise for her,” according to sources. The couple is now facing challenges in offloading the property amid their divorce proceedings.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were reportedly not entirely aligned in their decision to purchase their $68 million marital mansion, with the choice being described as “Ben’s idea” and a “major compromise for her.” According to a source who spoke to People, Lopez agreed to the purchase due to the property’s spacious layout, which included amenities such as a gym, a pickleball court, office space, and two private entrances. The layout was deemed suitable for accommodating both their families—Ben’s children (Violet, 18; Finn, 15; Samuel, 12) and Lopez’s 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme.
In May 2023, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck purchased their Beverly Hills mansion for $60.8 million. However, by July 2024, the property was listed for sale, just one month before Lopez, 55, filed for divorce. The source noted that the ultra-modern design of the 12-bedroom, 24-bathroom mansion did not quite match the style preferences of Lopez, contributing to the decision to sell the home.
Jennifer Lopez, who favors a romantic Spanish or European aesthetic, found the ultra-modern style of the $68 million mansion less appealing. Ben Affleck, who has his life and children based in Brentwood, also found the property’s location inconvenient and time-consuming due to traffic issues.
Since their decision to sell the mansion, Affleck has purchased a new $20.5 million bachelor pad, while Lopez has been touring other properties in Beverly Hills. The couple’s former marital home, Crestview Manor, remains on the market with a listing price of $68 million, up from the $60.85 million they paid last year. The estate features a 38,000 square foot main house with 12 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms, a 5,000 square foot guest penthouse, a two-bedroom guardhouse, a caretaker house, and a 12-car garage.
Crestview Manor boasts a range of amenities, including a bar, home gym, sports lounge, boxing ring, basketball and pickleball courts, and parking for 80 vehicles.
Ben Affleck has begun moving into his new $20.5 million five-bedroom, six-bathroom mansion in Brentwood, which he purchased on July 24—Jennifer Lopez’s birthday. The new home is closer to his children and in a neighborhood he prefers.
Affleck and Lopez, who did not sign a prenuptial agreement, are working with celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser to divide their assets. The ongoing divorce proceedings have the potential to become contentious, particularly due to disputes over financial matters. Lopez’s divorce filing lists their separation date as April 26, 2024, and notes that their assets are currently “unknown.” Under California law, only the assets and income acquired during their marriage are considered community property and subject to division.
