A growing number of mothers are opting to escape the back-to-school routine by jetting off on spa breaks, leaving their husbands to manage the often chaotic start of the new school term on their own. These women are choosing relaxation and self-care over the usual demands of prepping for a new school year, trusting their partners to handle the challenges of the first week back. The trend highlights a shift in traditional household roles, with many moms embracing the opportunity to unwind while dads step up to navigate the back-to-school frenzy.
Floating on her back in the warm Adriatic Sea, wearing a stylish bikini, Victoria Warnes felt completely carefree. Her relaxation was especially satisfying knowing that, back home in Berkshire, her children, Olivia, ten, and Wills, seven, were settling into the new school year, while her husband, Rich, a business consultant, managed the household on his own.
“At home, I’m typically the operations director for the entire family, but each year during the hectic back-to-school period, I’m simply not there,” she explains.
