A defendant, accused of administering drugs to his spouse to facilitate sexual assaults by approximately 50 men, allegedly instructed certain individuals not to use condoms, with one such individual reportedly being HIV positive. These appalling details have emerged in the context of a French criminal case, as recounted by the victim’s daughter. The daughter further asserts that the defendant dressed the victim in a manner likened to that of a “low-rent prostitute.”
The trial of Dominique Pelicot, accused of orchestrating a prolonged nine-year period of abuse by drugging his wife and facilitating her rape by numerous men, has both shocked and captivated the French public since its commencement on Monday.
Over the past two days, the court has been presented with evidence of Mr. Pelicot, 71, sending an extensive series of explicit messages to participants in a depraved online chatroom. He allegedly encouraged those who agreed to abuse his wife with statements such as, “You’re like me – you like rape mode.”
Additionally, the court has witnessed the arraignment of 50 men, all of whom stand trial alongside Mr. Pelicot, charged with aggravated rape.
Caroline Darian, writing under a pseudonym, has already provided a harrowing and detailed account of her father Dominique Pelicot’s heinous acts. In her book, And I Stopped Calling You Papa, spanning 176 pages, Darian outlines the cruel manipulation and abuse inflicted by her father on his wife, Gisele, which led to the destruction of her physical and mental health. These egregious acts were uncovered in November 2020.
Darian describes how Pelicot “dressed Maman like a low-rent prostitute” and instructed many of the men invited to their home not to use condoms while assaulting her unconscious mother, including one individual who had tested positive for HIV.
She further recounts the chilling revelation that she too had been drugged by her father, dressed in underwear, and left in the fetal position while he photographed her. Darian fled the courtroom in tears on Tuesday after these images were referenced during the trial.
