A 17-year-old, identified only as Riccardo, obsessively listened to the same two lines of a Beatles song before committing a gruesome attack that resulted in the deaths of his father, Fabio Chiarioni; his mother, Daniela Albano, 49; and his 12-year-old brother, Lorenzo. The tragic incident occurred in Paderno Dugnano, near Milan, Italy, on Sunday.
Riccardo, wielding a 20cm kitchen knife, confessed to police that he killed his family in an attempt to ‘live more freely.’ This act followed a period of fixation on “The Long and Winding Road” by The Beatles, according to local media reports.
Riccardo stated that he repeatedly listened to the lyrics “Many times I’ve been alone / And many times I’ve cried” from the song.
During the harrowing attack, Riccardo first targeted his brother, Lorenzo, while he was asleep. Lorenzo’s cries alerted their parents, who hurried into the bedroom, only to fall victim to the assault.
