Police detectives have initiated an urgent manhunt following the fatal stabbing of a 13-year-old boy in what has been described as an “absolutely tragic” attack at a residence in Birmingham.
Paramedics were dispatched to a home in the Oldbury area at 4 p.m. yesterday, where the boy had sustained fatal knife wounds. Despite receiving immediate treatment from the paramedics, authorities reported that, “despite their best efforts, the boy sadly passed away.”
The Detective Superintendent of West Midlands Police has committed to apprehending “whoever is responsible” for the horrific attack, which he described as “absolutely tragic.”
Images from the crime scene on Lovett Avenue last night depicted police vehicles and officers securing the area as the investigation commenced.
Officers cordoned off the road and the residence, where residents observed camera flashes coming from inside the property as forensic officers meticulously examined the evidence.
West Midlands Police confirmed that a team of detectives is actively investigating the specifics of this “tragic incident” and are “following active lines of enquiry” to identify those involved.
A local resident informed BirminghamLive that they witnessed “many police cars,” paramedics, and a police helicopter at the scene. A woman who has resided in the area for eight years described the neighborhood as “usually okay.” She recounted returning home at 4 p.m. yesterday to find the street sealed off, with ambulances departing around 5 p.m.
Another resident shared on Facebook that police had been knocking on doors, inquiring if anyone had heard anything within the past two hours. The officers described the situation as a “serious incident” but were unable to provide further details.
Images from the scene this morning reveal that police officers have maintained a presence at the house throughout the night. One photograph taken this morning shows an officer dressed in white forensic overalls standing outside the front door, holding what appears to be a camera, next to a bouquet of flowers placed at the entrance.
