A one-legged mobility scooter rider who was fatally attacked on a busy London street has been pictured for the first time. Jade Anthony Barnett, 38, reportedly attempted to escape but was trapped in his wheelchair before being killed yesterday on Rushmore Road in Clapton, Hackney. A friend mentioned that the attack occurred at the top of a set of stairs following a gathering that “kicked off.”
Mr. Barnett, who lost his leg in a motorcycle accident in 2007, was found on Rushmore Road in Clapton, Hackney, after being attacked with a machete. The Metropolitan Police were called at 3:38 p.m. following reports of a fight. Despite treatment from emergency and air ambulance services, Mr. Barnett was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two men, aged 21 and 28, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are in custody, being questioned by Scotland Yard detectives. His sister, Simone Barnett, described him as a “cheerful and caring man” who “never took nothing too seriously.”
