We exhausted our life savings over a dispute involving two fence panels: A couple spent £45,000 in legal fees contesting a boundary that their neighbor installed on their driveway.
A couple has depleted their £45,000 life savings in a prolonged dispute with a neighbor over two fence panels.
Graham and Katherine Bateson raised objections when Wendy Leedham erected the barrier on the shared driveway between their bungalows in 2019.
The couple maintained that the properties had a “featureless boundary” when they purchased their home in 1987 and initiated legal action.
The dispute continued for nearly three years before a mediation hearing ultimately ruled that the fence could remain.
Tragically, Mrs. Leedham did not live to see her victory, as she passed away just months before the decision was made.
