A 22-year-old crossdresser identified as Syabonga Clement Hadebe, has been reportedly m3rdered brutally by unknown assailants in South Africa.
Hadebe was said to have been shot 9 times while walking home in Malvern, Johannesburg and her body was found lying lifeless by the police on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Cartridges were found on the scene, and Clement was declared dead.
Women For Change advocacy group in a statement on Saturday, August 24, said the deceased identified as a trans-woman and had recently started transitioning.
Hadebe hailed from KwaZulu-Natal province, a popular area in Johannesburg. She was out as usual with a friend when they began to interact with the alleged male shooter who was showing interest in the crossdresser Hadebe. One thing led to another and Hadebe and the alleged shooter were left alone by her friend before the alleged shooting.
