Addressing critics of Bronny James, John Salley has issued a clear message: ‘Be quiet.’ The former Lakers center has defended both LeBron James’ son and the decision by Los Angeles to select him in the NBA draft held in June. Salley asserted that the criticism stems from the critics’ frustration at their own failure to conceive or execute a similar strategy.
“John Salley remarked to Newsafro.com at LAX, ‘If my father had the influence, if he were the leading scorer, and if he were in a position to accept a reduced salary to facilitate my compensation, it would be unprecedented in any other business.”
Bronny James distinguished himself in high school by earning McDonald’s All-American honors following an exceptional career at Sierra Canyon. However, his collegiate career at USC faced challenges, notably due to a cardiac arrest experienced during a preseason workout, which impacted his performance.
Despite criticisms of nepotism from various quarters, the Lakers selected Bronny James with the 55th overall pick. John Salley believes that such complaints are unfounded and asserts that anyone in a similar position to the James family would have acted in the same manner.
John Salley is advising LeBron James to continue playing in the NBA for several more years, with the aim of eventually sharing the court with his younger son, Bryce!
