I was gathered that among the 15 people rescued was a one-year-old baby. Divers are currently searching for survivors.
One person has been confirmed dead, and a search is underway for six others, including British and American tourists, after a freak storm sank a 180-foot yacht off the coast of Sicily early this morning. The vessel capsized near Porticello, close to Palermo, around 5 a.m. Fifteen of the 22 people aboard, including a one-year-old baby and its mother, were rescued by a nearby vessel. Reports indicate that the passengers included individuals from the UK, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Canada, the US, and two dual British-French nationals.
The group, which were reportedly tourists on holiday in Sicily, is feared to include those who may have been trapped inside their cabins when the vessel sank. The yacht, named Bayesian, is a luxury vessel flying the British flag and is known for having the second tallest mast in the world.
